in

Recently I was asked to describe Port Royal Sound with just one word. As I sat bewildered by this seemingly easy question, my mind raced to find the one descriptive term that would encompass how alive, alert, and awed each of my senses becomes when I am near the sound. What word could brand the expansive salt marshes whose changes of color reflect the seasons, birds that migrate most in plumage as if attending a formal event, flashes of silver and grey from marine life coming up to the surface and returning with a splash into the murky nutrient rich waters .
